Atikokan is host to many special events and festivals during the year. The remote wilderness of Atikokan and Quetico are perfect for adventure racing and canoeing. Below is a sample of some of the events in Atikokan. Beaten Path Nordic Trails-Sawmill Classic - January
Travelling through Quetico Provincial Park the tour takes skiers through an intimate traditional trail system and across frozen ponds and creeks. Reminiscent of old traditional skiing the tour is not a race and travelling together is encouraged. The Tour is a 24 km loop and is an all day event. Out of town guests are encouraged to come for the weekend. Skiers are to meet at the log cabin (French Lake Beach Parking). Skiers are expected to be done by 4:30 pm. The Beaten Path Nordic Trails' Cross Quetico Lakes Tour - March
Return to the roots of cross country skiing. Venture across the enchanting lakes and portages of Quetico Provincial Park. The Cross Quetico Lakes Tour is an anticipated event for many skiers from all over the area. We welcome mushers and skijorers and skiers to join us on a unique adventure. Vintage Iron Auto Club Show N Shine - End of May
Atikokan's Vintage Iron Auto Club invites you to celebrate our "Spring Fever Run". All registrants will be issued Dash Plaques and Grab Bags. The Poker Run will be held in the morning on Main Street. Smorgasborg Breakfast begins at 7:00 am both Saturday and Sunday mornings at the Iron Mine on Main Street. The "Show N Shine" is scheduled for Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Main Street with a Supper and Social to follow at 5:00 pm at the Iron Mine. Trophies and Presentations to follow. AA Vintage Drive-In Movie will be shown on Friday and/or Saturday evenings. The Town Cruise begins on Sunday morning. For more information, contact Pete Barna at 807-597-1587.
The Atikokan Mud Slingers 4x4 Races - Near the beginning of July
We have camping facilities right there on the grounds, which includes porta potties, and a lake to swim in, with on site food booth. The beer gardens run usually till about 11pm, and the food booth closes when everyone is full!!! Souris River Canoe Challenge - End of July
