Attractions and Things To Do in Emo, Ontario, Canada

There are a variety of things to do and see while you're in Emo. Visit one of the world's smallest churches or the museum. Take in an auction or browse the scenic waterfront shopping area and pick up a souvenir. Take advantage of the beautiful summer days and go hiking, swimming or have a picnic at Lion's Park. In the winter, the local curling rink and arena will accommodate any hockey or curling enthusiast. There are cross-country skiing trails and groomed snowmobile trails. Emo also has many special events throughout the year.

Museum
The Rainy River District Women’s Museum houses a collection of pioneer artifacts displaying the history of settlers in the region, which still includes a thriving farm community. Beef production is the main agricultural project, but there are many prosperous dairy herds and the rich soil yields virtually any crop.

The Norlund Chapel
When St. Patrick's Catholic Church burned down in 1971, Elmer Norlund and Ed Sletmoen salvaged the steeple and built the Norlund Chapel on Highway 11/17 in Emo. With a capacity of only eight people, it is one of the smallest churches in the world.

Hiking Trails
Emo, situated on beautiful Rainy River, sports a beautifully developed waterfront. The waterfront features Lions Park with various hiking trails.

Public Beaches
At Lions Park you can enjoy a relaxing day at the beach.

Picnic Area
There are picnic areas where you can eat and enjoy the stunning landscape at Lions Park.

Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung Historical Centre
Declared a National Historical Site more than 30 years ago by the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada, Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung encompasses more than three kilometers of Rainy River shoreline. Today's archaeologist's now know that this area contains a minimum of 30 village and campsites and at least 17 burial mounds. It is home to a series of galleries, and offers a tour of the mounds burial sites. Phone 807-483-1163 for more information.
