Family Vacations in Emo, Ontario, Canada

What better place to take a family than to the lodges and resorts on the Clearwater-Pipestone Lake Chain. Many of the accommodations specialize in families. There are lots of activities especially for families - facilities for volleyball, basketball, pool table, soccer and other outdoor activities. Try heading out on the water on a canoe or paddleboat or head out on the water for a day of boating and cruising. Parents of young ones will appreciate the swings and playgrounds available, and the clean, graduated sand beach. Older children will love the rafts and diving boards. Many guests wind up the day in the sauna, and then cool down with a refreshing drink and a quick dip in the pristine waters.

Wildlife abounds in the Emo area. You're likely to see bald eagles, loons, deer, squirrels, turtles, and even bears. Take a stroll in the virgin white pine forests. If fishing is your family's desire, you can fish a number of lakes in the area for walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, lake trout and muskie. Clearwater Lake has access to Pipestone, Despair, Off and several other lakes which provide 76 miles of great fishing lakes.

Take some time out and go into Emo, Nestor Falls or Fort Frances. Grab a bite to eat, do some shopping or visit the area attractions. There are several merchants in the Fort Frances area that specialize in souvenirs, local crafts, and art. The Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung Historical Centre in Stratton is a native burial site with a great interpretive center and tour. Visit the Trail's End Riding Stables and try your hand at horseback riding. Drive to the farms with buffalo, elk, emu, goats, sheep, and cattle.
