The Township of Emo is located on Highway 11/71 along the Rainy River, directly north of the state of Minnesota. The closest bridge connecting the two countries is located at Fort Frances, which is approximately 30 minutes away. From Fort Frances, take Highway 11/71 west 30 km (19 miles) to the full service community. Another International border crossing is located at Rainy River, approximately 40 minutes west of Emo. From Baudette, Minnesota, cross the toll-free bridge into the Township of Rainy River. Go east on Highway 11 for 60 km (37 miles) to reach Emo.
