Ignace is in the heart of the wilderness in Northwestern Ontario. The area is a photographer's paradise. Visitors are supplied with an overwhelming amount of natural beauty. The rugged landscape, breathtaking waterfalls, and crystal clear lakes has made the area famous for its pictoral splendor. Besides the beautiful views, there are lots of things to do in Ignace. In town, view some of the wall murals, relax on one of the sandy beaches or take part in a special event. The recreational opportunities are endless - hiking, fishing, hunting, canoeing, waterskiing, swimming and more.

White Otter Castle
White Otter Castle was hand built in 1903 by Jimmy McOuat, a lonely prospector who had lost all his fortunes in the gold rush and gambling. Since then, visitors have marveled at the enormity of the feat of one man, alone, hoisting three tonne logs of green timber four stories in the air to erect such a building. A 1.1 million dollar conservation project was completed to ensure that the castle remains for future generations to visit.

Raleigh Falls
Raleigh Falls, located only 10 minutes from Ignace, offers a breathtaking view of the falls. Stop for a glimpse of the magnificent falls or have a picnic and stay awhile.

Pictographs
Pictographs or Indian paintings can be found throughout the Ignace area which can be dated back to prehistoric times.

Hiking Trails
The 16,000 km Trans Canada Trail which spands from east coast of Canada to the west coast and north to Nunavut, passes directly through Ignace. The locally operated IWOC Trails provides walking trails right in the heart of Ignace, which in the winter months, is used as a cross-country ski trail.

Snowmobile Trails
A network of highly groomed snowmobile trails pass through Ignace interconnecting many destinations in Northwestern Ontario and the United States.

Canoeing
The Turtle River Wilderness Park provides over 150 kms of back country canoeing routes.

Wall Murals
Wall Murals painted by area artists are found along the main corridor, providing a sense of local history and hertiage.

Provincial Parks
Turtle River Provincial Park and Sand Bar Lake Provincial Park can be found just a stones throw away the town. Both parks provide an exciting array of natural beauty and backwoods adventure.

Water Activities
Water Activities are found in abundance at Agimak Lake. A wide variety of activities from sailing to boating, swimming to water skiing, or relaxing in the sun on our white sandy beaches is waiting for you.

Fishing and Hunting
Fishing and Hunting is a way of life in the area. Whether you choose to hunt for large moose, fish for the best tasting walleye in the area or just view the pristine wildlife, Ignace is the place for you. If you are looking for a more structured vacation plan, then there are numerous sport fishing and hunting camps with skilled guides in the immediate area. Everything from guided canoe tours to fly-in fishing camps are located in the area.
