Kenora Bear Hunting

The bear hunting outfitters in the Kenora area offer both rifle and bow hunts. There usually is a high success rate due to the bear baits and large Bear Management Areas (BMA) with a large, healthy population of black bears. The bonus of having a fall bear hunt is that once you've bagged your bear, you can do some fishing. The fishing is excellent in the fall.

Guided Black Bear Hunts

Guided black bear hunts can be either American Plan, where they also include meals or Housekeeping Packages, which includes a cabin rental and you make your own meals.

Un-Guided Black Bear Hunts

If you'd like to "Do it yourself", unguided bear hunts are available. The Bear Managements Area that your outfitter has allocated for your hunts are usually pre-baited in advance of your arrival. You have your choice of drive-in resorts, fly in outposts or flyin full service lodges or boat-in remote camps.

Non-Canadian hunters will need:

• to bring a hunting license from the state in which you reside in order to purchase a non-resident's license
• export permit
• Non-residents must have a Black Bear Hunting Licence Validation Certificate as well as a black bear hunting licence. They must also complete the hunt report that comes with the certificate and return it to the issuer of the certificate by November 30 of the year of hunt.

Canadian bear hunters will require a Resident's licence tag to hunt black bear. Residents must complete a mandatory questionnaire and return it to MNR by December 15 of the year of the hunt.
