Whitetail Deer Hunting Trips

With an abundance of deer in the area, many Kenora Outfitters offer whitetail deer hunting trips. We have some of the biggest whitetail deer in Canada. Taking a 250-300lb whitetail here is not uncommon. Whitetail around Kenora have to be big - this is about as far north as their range extends. Less than 100 miles farther north and the deer peter out and only the moose, caribou and the odd tough Whitetail can survive. Kenora is located in Wildlife Management Area (WMU) 7B, but some of the outfitters also hunt in WMU 6. The whitetail season opens the first Monday closest to the 8th of October until November 15th for non-residents. Guided Whitetail Deer Hunting

Some of the outfitters in Kenora offer guided whitetail deer hunting. Many of these hunts are all inclusive - meals, lodging, guide service etc. Outfitters may use stand hunting, stalking, rattling, drives by guides and/or hounds. Your guide's knowledge of the area combined with the many miles of wilderness definitely increase your chance of finding that trophy buck.

Un-Guided Whitetail Deer Hunting

While some areas to the south of Kenora, Ontario (including some parts of WMU 7B) require a guide for whitetail deer hunts, it is not required for Kenora outfitters. Semi guided deer hunts are also available at some hunting camps.

Firearms

Big game, including deer, may only be hunted with a firearm (this includes bows). When hunting deer you may use or carry only a firearm of the type permitted for hunting deer at that time in that WMU. For example, when hunting deer during an archery only season, you may use or carry only archery equipment. You may not carry a rifle or shotgun for hunting other game species. However, when hunting deer during a rifle/shotgun season you may also carry a rifle or shotgun for small game (in addition to your firearm that meets the specifications to hunt deer) because it is the same type of firearm.
