Kenora, ideally located on Lake of the Woods, is the perfect starting point for a fly-in fishing vacation. You can fly into outpost cabins on numerous remote lakes or boat-in to outpost cabins on Lake of the Woods and Dryberry Lake. You can also drive in to an outpost on Separation Lake. Fly in hunting trips are also available at most of these outfitters in Kenora. An outpost cabin is truly a remote Canadian wilderness experience. Most times at the fly in lakes you'll be the only vacationers on the lake.
From Kenora you can fly into outpost lakes such as Brown Bear, Carroll, Chase, Craven, Joe's, Nance, Norse, Oak Lake on the English River System, Obukowin, Populus, Roger, Scenic, Snowshoe, Trapline, Treelined, Trout and Walleye Lake as well as the English and Gammon River. Most float plane trips from Kenora will originate from the Kenora Harbourfront from either Kenora Air or Walsten's Air Service. Boat in outpost camps are also another option if you don't like to fly. Lake of the Woods is a huge lake - with over 14,500 islands. You can rent a outpost cabin in a secluded part of Lake of the Woods so you don't have to take a long boat trip every day to get to seclusion. There are also outposts near Shoal Lake Narrows, giving you the opportunity to easily fish Shoal Lake and Lake of the Woods. Dryberry Lake also has a boat-in outpost fishing camp on it. Separation Lake also has a remote drive to outpost camp on it.
