Special Events and Festivals in Kenora, Ontario, Canada

Harbourfest, Kenora's best special event Kenora has a wide variety of year round events to choose from. There's a festival for everyone. Choose from hockey or fishing tournaments to music concerts to fireworks. Children are sure to have fun all summer long while they are out of school. Both Harbourfest and Canada Day Celebrations feature many activites for the kids. Below is a summary of the major Special Events and Festivals held in Kenora. Kenora Rotary Snowmobile Ride for Health - February

SNO-X - March
Exciting snowmobile races on grounds of Kenora Recreation Centre.

North American First Nations Tournament of Champions - March or April
Huge hockey tourament held at the Kenora Recreation Centre Arena on Easter weekend.

North West Pa Gii Da Un Pow Wow - End of April, Beginning of May
Held at the Kenora Recreation Centre.

Shrine Circus - Beginning of May
Great fun for the whole family. Held at the Kenora Recreation Centre.

Home & Leisure Show - First week of May

Good Sam Club Samboree - Third week in May
Held at the Kenora Recreation Centre.

Swinging Seniors Day -Second weekend in June
Live entertainment on Kenora Harbourfront. Seniors Choir from Winnipeg plus much, much more.

Kenora Dog Show - Third weekend in June.
Kenora District Dog Club presents its annual Dog Show at the Keewatin arena. For more information call Diane at 807-468-3791.

Bearskin Golf Classic -Third week in June
Annual golf tournament hosted by Bearskin Airlines at the Kenora Golf & Country Club and Best Western Lakeside Inn.

Classic Car Show & Shine -Near the end of June (3rd to 4th Friday).
Evening show at Kenora Harbourtown Centre. Many prizes, many categories. Out of town cars welcome! For more information call Bill Richards 807-468-8407.

Canada Day Celebrations - July 1
Celebrations include fireworks, games for the children, crafts, face painting, live entertainment, consession stands and more. Held at the Harbourfront.

Kenora Teddy Bear Picnic Teddy Bear Picnic - Held in the middle of July, during the day at the Kenora Harbourfront.
Bring your Teddy Bear in for some TLC by the medical staff of the Lake of the Woods District Hospital. Teddy bears get in free. Teddy Bear Hospital, Entertainment, Food, Drinks, Treats, Bouncing Castle, Face Painting, Craft Tent, Storytelling, Petting Zoo. For more information call Tourism Kenora at 807-467-4636.

Living History Tours (TryLight Theater Company) - July and August

Lake Stories Tour:
Is an exciting tour about the local Anishinaabe people. You will enjoy hearing about their experiences of the surrounding area, lakes, and rivers. Tour starts at McLeod Park.
City Stories Tour:
This is very entertaining walking tour and will take you on a journey through time. You will enjoy hearing about the highlights of Kenora and seeing history come alive. Tour starts at the Thistle Pavilion (on the Harbourfront).

ESCAPE Powerboat Excursion - on Lake of the Woods. The ESCAPE, Lake of the Woods power boat cruise, was organized years ago by avid boaters on the lake with a goal of meeting new boaters, teaching the lake to boaters and for a good time. The ESCAPE is open to all power boaters and each year people of all ages and from many parts of Canada and the United States trailer their boats to Lake of the Woods to take part in this fun event. The ESCAPE Cruises are held three times per year, plus a Winter "No-Boat" ESCAPE. The Summer ESCAPE is a three day Cruise on Lake of the Woods. The Spring and Fall Escapes are normally a single day event held in the location of choice of that year's Commodore.

Kenora Harbourfest Children's Activities Kenora Harbourfest - August Long Weekend (the beginning of August).
Huge Long Weekend celebrations. Day activites include a variety of activities for the children, a Classic Car Show, Antique Wooden Boat parade, KidZone, and Vendors. Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings are host to music concerts under the tent. This weekend is not to be missed. Fireworks are also on the Sunday night. Diamonds & Ice Tourament. Held at the Kenora Harbourfront.

Kenora Classic Car Show - August Long Weekend.
Held the weekend of Harbourfest. Take a close look at the beautifully restored classic cars all along the green belt of the downtown Harbourfront.

Annual Diamonds & Ice - Hockey, baseball & golf tourament. Held at the Keewatin ball diamond and arena. Held during Harbourfest on the August Long Weekend. For more information call Dave at 807-468-3455. Golf Tournament is held at the Beauty Bay Golf Course on the Monday. For more information about golfing, call Mike at 807-548-8262.

LOWISA Sailing Regatta - First Week in August.
A week long regatta on Lake of the Woods.

Kenora Agricultural Society Fair - Usually 1st or 2nd weekend in August.
Held at the Kenora Recreation Centre. Come see the finest crops grown this year. Midway, exhibits, animals and displays. For more information contact Jack at 807-548-5612. KBI Fishing Tournament in Kenora, Canada

Kenora Bass International Fishing Tournament - Ususally the 2nd week in August.
Teams compete for great monetary prizes. Watch the fishermen weigh-in and see who the top contenders are. Beer gardens. Held on Lake of the Woods. Activities are held under the tent on the Harbourfront. Held on the Thursday, Friday & Saturday after the Long weekend. For more information call 807-468-5555.

Dragon Boat Festival - Sunday after the long weekend in August.
Annual Dragon Boat Festival held on Rabbit Lake.

Lobsterfest - First to Second week in September.

Doors Open Ontario - Middle of September
Tours of Historic homes and buildings in Kenora.

Annual Gun Collectors Sale & Outdoor Show -location TBA. Held in the second or third week in September.
