Ice Fishing on Lake of the Woods and surrounding lakes is fantastic in the winter. For the dedicated angler, there's no reason a little snow and ice should get in way the way fishing. Some of the best catches happen in the winter. Hundreds of kilometres of ice roads and groomed snowmobile trails actually make Lake of the Woods very easily navigated in the winter. For most of the winter ice fishing season, you can use balanced jigging Raps, lead-headed jigs and spoons tipped with lively minnows. You can stay at a four season resort on Lake of the Woods or at one of the many hotels in Kenora.

A few years later, the STR joined up with the Provincial club, The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC). Visit the STR website for trail reports, permits and trail maps.
