Duck Hunting Trips in Morson, Ontario, Canada

Enjoy great duck hunting in Morson and around Lake of the Woods. Hunters do not have to go very far as there are usually abundant waterfowl in the area - their migratory routes pass right over Lake of the Woods. There are a number of species of ducks found here, including Blue Bills and Mallards. There are also many Canada Geese, both on the water and in neighbouring grain fields.

Hunt ducks in wild rice bays, creeks and small lakes. The numerous wild rice fields in nearby water systems attract plenty of waterfowl. Have the best of both worlds - combine a hunting and fishing trip. Fall fishing is usually fantastic. The season usually opens in mid September and runs through early October. It is important to understand that there are specific seasons for hunting ducks, geese and woodcock in Ontario. The dates for hunting these migratory game birds often vary across the province so it is very important to check the dates of the open seasons in the area(s) you will be hunting. You can view the Migratory Birds Hunting Regulations here.

The following are migratory game bird species that may be hunted in Ontario during the open season:
- Ducks (other than Harlequin Ducks)
- Geese, Snow Geese, and Brant
- Rails (other than Yellow and King Rails), American Coots, Common Snipe, Common Moorhens
- Woodcock Hunters can contribute to their own sport by not firing at those species that are either protected or scarce, and needed as breeders to restore the flocks. It can add to their daily limit - when extra birds of certain species can be taken legally, hunters who know their ducks on the wing come out ahead. Visit the Waterfowl identification Guide for illustrations and descriptions of all waterfowl.

To hunt migratory game birds in Ontario, a person, other than an Indian or Inuk, must have a Federal Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit and a Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp, as well as an Ontario license to hunt small game. Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permits and Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamps are available from any main Canada Post Office.
