Trout fishing is great in the area. Because Pickle lake is the most northerly, year round, road accessable community, many of the lakes that surround it are cooler water or rivers that flow in from Hudson/James Bay (artic water).

Pickle Lake offers many lakes including the Albany River, Ashewieg River, Cat Lake and with a short drive Hudson/James Bay. It is also surrounded my provincial parks including: Albany River Provincial Park, Fawn River Prov. Park, Opasquia Wilderness Park and many more.
