Red Lake, Ontario, Canada is known as the "Norseman Capital of the World". The Municipality of Red Lake was formed on July 1, 1998 - It was an almagamation of the following communities: Madsen, Red Lake, Balmertown, Cochenour, McKenzie Island, Starratt-Olsen, and Flat Lake. Red Lake boasts numerous fishing and hunting lodges and resorts. On your way north to Red Lake along Highway 105, you'll come across lakes with camps on them such as Pakwash, Bruce and the Gullrock Chain of Lakes. The town itself is located on the shores of Howey Bay. You can also find housekeeping cabins and American Plan resorts on Red Lake. Red Lake, being located at the end of Highway 105, is a starting off point for many northern fly-in fishing lodges and outposts.

You'll find fly-in lodges located on lakes such as Birch Lake, Douglas Lake, North Spirit Lake, Roderick Lake, Sabourin Lake, Sydney Lake, Trout Lake and Upper Goose Lake. There are also numerous outposts lakes with fantastic fishing.

Two wilderness parks can be reached from Red Lake - Woodland Caribou Provincial Park and Opasquia Provincial Park. There are outfitters and air services that can fly you into these parks. There are some accommodations (lodges and outposts) within these parks.
