Your campground options in the Vermilion Bay area are: Private Campgrounds, Lodges with Camping Facilities or Camping in Blue Lake Provincial Park. You can find campsites on Eagle Lake, Cliff Lake, Cedar Lake and Richard Lake. If you're into wintertime, go dog sledding, where you'll spend your nights in an outpost cabin or a heated wall tent. They have arustic appeal yet provide warmth and a place to relax after a day on the trail.
Camping at Blue lake Provincial Park
A popular recreational park just northwest of Vermilion Bay, Blue Lake boasts a long, sandy beach and water so clear you can see the bottom at six metres. There are 198 spacious and well spaced tent and trailer sites, 104 with electricity, available from mid-May to mid-September. Many sites are pull-through for trailers and RVs.
There are three hiking trails in the park:
Boulder Ridge Trail 1 km (30 minutes) - easy
Learn how forest fires affect ecology as you walk through a jack pine forest.
Rock Point Trail 4 km (2 hours) - moderate
The Rock Point Trail follows the height of land between Blue and Langdon lakes past mature, white cedars.
Spruce Fen Trail 1 km (30 minutes) - easy, barrier free
Follow the boardwalk to a spruce fen, a wetland covered with a mat of floating plants. Interpretive stops along the way explain fen ecology.
