The Indian Lake Chain is a system of small lakes and channels, approximately 18 miles in total length. All lakes, with plenty of islands and bays, are easily navigable by boat. Canyon Lake has excellent muskie fishing. There are no Northern Pike here to interfere with the muskie spawn. Canyon Lake offers weed beds, rock points, wooded shoreline, deep basins, current and islands. The lake is 18 miles long and supports muskie up to 40 pounds. Early in the season, from opening in June to August, the Musky are in a shallow pattern. You can use spinner baits, bucktails and topwater lures during these first months. Much of the bigger fish are caught in September and October when the Musky head to deeper water. During these months, concentrate more on trolling, casting the rocks, and using more live bait.

Driving north from Vermilion Bay on Highway 105, you'll reach Cedar Lake. Cedar Lake is 6500 acres, connected by the river system to nine lakes for a total of 20,000 acres of water to fish. Muskie fishing season opens the Third Saturday in June. It's best to cast with 20 Pound Test and to use Surface Lures, Suicks, No.4 & No. 5 Mepps with Buck Tail, Large Spoons and Large Rapallas. On the west side of Highway 105, you'll find Cliff Lake, which also has great muskie fishing.
