Eagle Lake Northern Pike Fishing
Eagle Lake is famous for its canadian fishing and scenic beauty. It boasts over 63,400 acres of water and almost 500 islands with many bays, channels, weed beds and drop-offs to explore during your canadian fishing adventure. The average depth of Eagle is 22 feet with a maximum depth of 110 feet. Fishing on Eagle Lake is unique in that it produces excellent fishing of all five major species, including northern pike, throughout the season. Fish the weed beds for this great game fish. Spoons, stick baits, spinners or live bait are big producers for these hungry northern pike.
Clay Lake Northern Pike Fishing
From Vermillion Bay, drive approximately ten miles north on Highway 105, then turn left on Highway 609 until you reach Clay Lake. Clay Lake is actually a widening in the Wabigoon River System. The system is long and narrow, being about 1 mile at its widest point, with many bays and narrows - is never too windy. The river system runs to a maximum depth of 70 feet, but you'll usually be fishing in depths from 8-30 ft. Clay Lake is a stained water lake which makes early morning and late night fishing unnecessary. That "big pike" is just as likely to be caught at in the middle of the day. Expect northern pike up to 25lbs.
Cedar Lake Northern Pike Fishing
Driving north from Vermilion Bay on Highway 105, you'll reach Cedar Lake. Cedar Lake is a horseshoe shaped spectacular body of clear, clean water. Conservation projects have been ongoing on the Cedar River Watershed for the past 15 years, resulting in fantastic fishing. Cedar has depths of a few feet to 60 feet. The northern pike fishing season is open year round. You can keep one greater than 35.5,- although we suggest catching & releasing to keep our fisherery great. No northern can be kept between 27.5 - 35.5". Casting and trolling weed beds & rocky shoals with 10 to 17 lb test seems to work the best. Use large spoons, buck tails, spinner bait, No.5 Mepps with large minnows, leeches, suckers or night crawlers.
