Emo, Ontario, Canada - A Safe, Friendly Full-service Community

Emo is located in along the banks of Rainy River, directly north of the state of Minnesota. The closest bridge connecting Canada to the U.S. is at Fort Frances, which is about 30 minutes from Emo. Another International bridge is located in Rainy River, approximately 40 minutes west of Emo. It is a vigorous resort community with a beautifully developed waterfront that includes a boat launch and park area as well as hiking and biking trails. Emo is a scenic stop on the "MOM's Way" (Manitoba-Ontario-Minnesota) route. Just north of Emo, off Highway 615 you'll find the Clearwater/Pipestone Chain of Lakes which is home to several fishing and hunting lodges.

Race enthusiasts won't want to miss the stock car action at the Emo Speedway. Cars from the central US and Canada compete for prizes on a quarter mile, banked clay track. Emo is also home to the Norlund Chapel, one of the smallest churches in the world. Built by two local men in 1973, the chapel is open as a house of prayer for all but meauring just 8' x 10' can only hold eight people at a time. The chapel's steeple was salvaged from a church fire in 1971 and has a six foot high iron cross forged by a local blacksmith in 1935.

The Rainy River District Women's Institute Museum houses a display of pioneer farm artifacts that reveal the history of settlers in the region - which still includes a thriving farm community. Because of its geographic location, Emo serves as the main service center for the agricultural needs of the Rainy River District, as well as an important service center for the tourist industry. Emo provides a full range of services including a school, hospital, library, bank, medical & dental clinics, recreation centre.
