Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung Historical Centre
Just 20 minutes away is an historical site (Manitou Mounds). As one of the most significant centres of early habitation and ceremonial burial in Canada, Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung has deep cultural and spiritual meaning to indigenous peoples throughout North America. As such, it has been declared a site of national historic significance for all to share. The Centre is located 55 kilometres west of Fort Frances, between the towns of Barwick and Stratton.
Livestock Auction Facility Locally owned and operated by Rainy River Cattlemen's Association sales barn for marketing of livestock.
Mud Lake
Mud Lake is a western style old time 'city'. Developed by a local couple, each building is a complete historical showcase featuring antiques, collectibles and oddities. Items date from 1900 to 1970. Visitors are welcome when the gate is open. Once a year Mud Lake City hosts an open stage music festival featuring local talent.
Recreational Activities
Baseball Diamond
Locally ran ball diamond that is tile drained so even in rainy weather the diamond dries out quickly. Children to adult organized ball games. Septic system and washrooms on site. There is ample playground equipment to keep children out of harm's way of the diamond.
Emo Speedway
Cars from USA and Canada compete on a quarter mile clay banked track. The track is located in Emo.
Canada Fishing Trips There's great fishing in the area for walleye, smallmouth bass, nortern pike, sturgeon and more.
Canada Hunting Trips
There is fall hunting for whitetail deer, bear, small game, grouse and ducks.
Snowmobile Trails
With the vast open area in which to travel there are well groomed trails throughout the district with beautiful scenery as well as enjoying the great outdoors.
Outdoor Rink Facility
This facility will feature ice in the winter months for broomball, ringette and skating. In the summer months it is scheduled to see rollerblading, basket ball and anything else that we can think of. There are change rooms on sight with flush toilets. This facility has received their safety clearance from the school board.
