Why not make your trip to Atikokan a learning experience! You can visit the walleye fish hatchery, see the Centennial Museum, the Native Friendship Center, Pioneer Center or mining attractions. View ancient native rock art at the Pictograph Gallery or better yet, set out on your own to view rock art along the many lakeshores near town. Just south of Atikokan is beautiful Quetico Provincial Wilderness Park - one of North America's best places to enjoy wilderness canoeing. Atikokan's proximity to the park is the reason the town is known as the "Canoeing Capital of Canada". Area canoe outfitters are some of the best anywhere and they are the ones you should contact to set up a great Canadian canoe trip.

Fishing and hunting opportunties are second to none. The region has populations of moose, whitetail deer and big bears. Fish area lakes and rivers including Perch, the Seine River Chain, Clearwater West Lake, Marmion, Niobe and Finlayson Lakes. Trout,walleye, and northern pike run in great numbers. Quetico Provincial Park has some of the finest smallmouth bass fishing in Ontario. The many area lodges and resorts can provide you with a memorable vacation in Ontario. Fishing and hunting is available by drive-in, fly-in or boat-in access. From the United States you can fly in to the nearby City of Thunder Bay. You can drive across at International Falls/Fort Frances or at Pigeon River then go either east or west from there down Highway 11 to Atikokan.
