Mine Centre, Ontario![]() Mine Centre is a small community located on Highway 11 between Fort Frances, Ontario and Atikokan. It is a great place to stop for a bite, to get supplies and to talk to the friendly people who live here. Bad Vermilion Lake and several other quality fishing lakes are located near the community. Catch lake trout, bass, walleye and big northern pike in the area. You also have a great chance at seeing wildlife such as eagles or moose. Make sure you have your camera ready during your drive down Highway 11. The many lakes and rivers and the dense forest make it one of Ontario's great drives. The Turtle River - White Otter Wilderness Area is located directly north of Mine Centre. It offers a variety of canoe routes for the wilderness canoeist along with rugged scenery and great fishing. Area canoe outfitters can set you up on guided or unguided canoe trips. They offer equipment rentals, access assistance, route planning, maps and more.
